Who We Are /

Albany Spinning Mills is a specialist manufacturer of high-quality carpet and textile yarns, with a proud lineage tracing back to the historic Albany Woollen Mill—an icon of Western Australia’s industrial past.

We carry forward a legacy of craftsmanship that began in 1924, when the original mill was established to process locally-sourced wool into yarn and fabric for a wide range of applications.

Today, Albany Spinning Mills has a new home in the hillside town of Bandung, Indonesia, and focuses exclusively on producing wool and synthetic yarns for the carpet and textile industry, combining our traditional values with modern manufacturing capabilities.

Woolen Yarns

We offer a comprehensive range of wool and wool-blend yarns, produced using woollen and semi-worsted spinning systems to suit a wide variety of textile applications.

Our capabilities span fine to extra-heavy yarn counts, with linear densities ranging from approximately 300 tex to over 3,000 tex, available in single and multi-ply constructions.

We work with 100% wool as well as carefully engineered blends incorporating nylon, acrylic, polyester, polypropylene, and recycled fibres, allowing us to tailor performance, durability, and handle.

Yarn twist levels can be adjusted from soft, low-twist constructions to high-twist yarns for enhanced strength and definition, with both S and Z twist optionsavailable. Depending on end-use requirements, yarns can be supplied heat-set or non-heat-set, delivering the desired balance of stability, resilience, and appearance.

Synthetic Yarns

We also manufacture a broad portfolio of synthetic yarns, supported by a production capacity exceeding 1,000 metric tons per month and advanced extrusion technology.

We produce Polypropylene, Polyester, Recycled Polyester (rPET), and Nylon yarns across a wide range of fine to heavy linear densities, including flat, air-textured, and bulk continuous filament (BCF) constructions.

Our BCF yarns are produced on high-performance Neumag S8 and S+ systems, enabling consistent quality, excellent bulk, and colour definition for demanding applications. Filament counts and yarn structures can be tailored to achieve the required balance of softness, bulk, strength, and resilience, with single- and multi-ply options available where applicable.

Yarns may be supplied in heat-set or non-heat-set formats and are offered in a wide spectrum of dope-dyed and custom colours, with optional performance additives such as UV stabilisation, making them suitable for applications ranging from apparel and upholstery to carpet, flooring, and technical textiles.
